Heron Island

The project at Heron Island was started on Monday 5th June 2017 and completed on Friday 8th August 2017.

The job consisted of the redecoration of 48 luxury properties set on the banks of the River Thames with an average value range of £300K–1Million pound for some of the properties.

Following the successful award of the painting, the additional carpentry works worth £30,000 were also added to our order books.

There were four men who carried out the painting - as well as our Property Maintenance Manager, Russell Gooch - having two carpenters there to do repairs.

Some of the gardens to the properties backed directly onto the River Thames where the leasehold property owners have their own jetty to moor their boats and have exclusive fishing rights too.

Some of the obstacles we had to encounter were moving equipment along the narrow jetties to access the rears of the gardens, and one of the things we had to include was a rescue plan amongst the health and safety documentation. Because of the time of year we also came across several bees’ nests which we had to leave until a suitable time to go back when the bees had left.

All materials used on the works were from the ICI specification.

There was a very large property set on the end of the peninsula with fantastic views out onto the river and across to surrounding parkland.

See below letter of thanks from the Chairman of the Residents Association of Heron Island following completion of the project:

On behalf of the Heron Island Residents' Association could you please pass on our appreciation to Hankinson’s for the professional manner in which they undertook the external decorating last year? The decorating was carried out to programme, and with minimum disruption to the residents.

In particular, Paul Doogan and his team were courteous and thorough throughout. They carried out their work conscientiously and in good humour, taking into account any requests from individual residents.

I have also been asked to pass on thanks to Russell Gooch, who organised any additional repairs that were requested.

We would be delighted for Hankinson’s to carry out further work on Heron Island in the future." - David Wynne, HIRA Chair
