Borders General Hospital

Specialist Hygienic Coatings to Day Procedure Unit

Whittle Hygienic & Environmental Coatings are pleased to have completed the recoating works at the Borders General Hospital Day Procedure Unit.

The works involved included a specialist clean-down followed by the application of two coats of Construction Specialities Wallflex, and Two Pack Polyurethane Eggshell.

Wallflex was chosen as it offers a highly durable, easily maintainable anti-microbial finish which critically helps to eliminate the spread of germs including MRSA, Ecoli, Salmonella, Typhimurium and Aspergillus Niger.

The coated surface will withstand repeated cleaning without degradation to the surface or without leaching out its anti-microbial properties, having been tested to scrub resistance of 4000+ cycles and abrasion resistance to 5000 cycles.

Working in conjunction with the Hospital’s shutdown period, all work was completed to a challenging programme between Christmas and New Year. The Whittle site team were able to carry out the project without causing any disruption to the Hospital’s staff or patients.

The coatings were applied by brush and roller with particular attention being paid to the protection of all fixtures and fittings.

C/S Wallflex can be supplied in any BS4800 RAL Classic or NSC 2nd series colour as standard.
