Matthew Williams, Assistant Group SHEQ Compliance Co-ordinator, recently prepared for and oversaw the two-part audit carried out by Achilles UVDB, which included a Management System Audit and a Site Audit.
The audits were judged against several factors, such as Health & Safety, Environment, Quality, and Corporate Social Responsibility. For the Management System Audit we scored 100% in the areas of Health & Safety and Corporate Social Responsibility; for the Site Audit we scored 100% in the areas of Environment, Quality, and Corporate Social Responsibility. This resulted in an overall score of 97%, placing EPIC as the highest scoring company in the UK for the 2016 B2 Audit sector!
Achilles UVDB is a client-formed database for all of the major utilities companies, including National Grid, Scottish Power and Anglian Water. The database is designed to ensure that their clients are working with high standard companies, and the clients decide what the standard should be set at in order for companies to be eligible to work with them. This means that they are only working with ‘approved’ companies, as achieved through the vetting process with Achilles UVDB.

EPIC have partaken in the UVDB audit in order to open themselves up to new opportunities to branch out into the Energy Industry. The highest mark required for any client is an overall score of 85%, which means that EPIC have ensured their company details will be visible to all clients who use the UVDB system.
Group Chief Executive Stephen Hankinson said “Achieving UVDB accreditation is an important strategic milestone for the Company. We have a suite of specialist services that are perfect for the Utilities sector and this will now allow us to develop some exciting opportunities. Achieving the top score in a B2 audit was an added bonus but is a reflection of the exceptionally high standards that we set.”
A huge thanks to the whole EPIC team - along with help from Group Operations Director Ivor Thomas and Group SHEQ Manager Amy Pohribnyj - who worked together to ensure that the audit went smoothly, and who all contributed to the astounding high score that was achieved.
