Effective use of colour can have a powerful impact on the way pupils engage with their environment. A well designed learning space can stimulate learning and engagement by creating a comfortable environment in which pupils are inspired.   All too often in busy educational environments, decision makers choose ‘safe’ colour schemes, such as white and magnolia to keep things simple when it comes to repair works. However, this can result in a drab, institutionalised look that limits creativity and disengages children from their surroundings.

Paint manufacturer, Dulux Trade, has developed an Education Colour Scheming Folder to help specifiers support people in the education sector, and encourage them to get creative with colour to create stimulating learning environments.

The folder offers expert advice on how to create and develop colour schemes suitable for a range of education environments and age groups. Whether specifiers are seeking a fresh new look for a classroom, or would like to know which shades complement existing colours, the folder offers examples of popular trends and helps specifiers to create the perfect scheme for any educational area, including classrooms, breakout areas and corridors.

Designed by senior colour consultants at AkzoNobel, the folder provides advice on shade selection for primary, secondary and further education, and offers bespoke colour palettes designed specifically for each age range.

In addition to this resource, Dulux Trade has also developed an Education Specifier Guide that can be found on www.specifytradepaint.co.uk/education. The guide features a range of case studies, product information and practical advice on how to extend maintenance cycles without compromising on colour, though the use of durable paint coatings such as Dulux Trade Diamond Matt and the new Dulux Trade High Performance Diamond Eggshell.

Whittle Programmed Painting are Dulux Trade Contracts Partners and have been working hand in hand to provide design solutions to the Education Sector for a number of years.
