After a competitive tender and evaluation process, Lancaster City Council extended its relationship with Whittle for another six years during 2007. The contract, valued at over £1.5 million, was the largest maintenance programme won by Whittle at that time.
In mid 2006, Lancaster City Council tendered the repainting of the council's 4800 properties and their annual maintenance. The council invited expressions of interest from suitable companies including Whittle who had held the contract for four years. A thorough evaluation of bids culminated in a formal presentation before a panel made up of tenant representatives, councillors and housing officials. Gary Roberts - Contracts Manager - said it was a real team effort and a testament to the quality workmanship provided by the workforce in the previous four years, and he looked forward to working with Lancaster City Council for the next six years on developing the partnership further. The new contract began in April 2007.
